All the functions needed are in the zipped files below. Latest version: 1.3 (September 2002).

• S-PLUS: bmmp13.s.gz or bmmp13.s.zip
• R: bmmp13.R.gz or bmmp13.R.zip

Save the appropriate zipped file (UNIX/Linux users will probably want the gz files, Windows users the zip files), unzip, and source() to load the functions. To always have the functions available without cluttering up your workspace, do the following:

• Create a subdirectory wherever you usually start S-PLUS (or R) called bmmp (say). For S-PLUS 5.x or 6.x on UNIX/Linux type SPlus CHAPTER in this subdirectory, otherwise go on to the next step.
• Start S-PLUS (or R) in the subdirectory.
• source("pathname/bmmp**.s") or source("pathname/bmmp**.R") (where "pathname" is wherever you've put the unzipped file from above) and then quit (saving the workspace in R).
• Start S-PLUS (or R) in your usual workspace and create a .First function to attach bmmp, eg
  .First <- function() attach("pathname/bmmp") (S-PLUS for UNIX/Linux)
  .First <- function() attach("C:\\pathname\\bmmp\\_Data") (S-PLUS for Windows)
  .First <- function() attach("pathname/bmmp/.RData") (R).
  Every time you start up from now on, the functions will be available for use.

The data for the examples are available here:

• naphthalene.txt
• WBCD.txt
• yield.txt

To use these data sets with the user's manual or the script files above, save them to a data subdirectory of your usual working directory. (Note that these have been changed from ".dat" files to ".txt" files to avoid browser security issues.)

The gibbs.gam object (ggnaph) and BUGS/BOA object (boawbcd) discussed in the user's manual are available here (note that ggnaph is only available for S-PLUS on UNIX/Linux):

• S-PLUS 5.x or 6.x for UNIX/Linux: ggnaph.gz or boawbcd.gz
• S-PLUS 4.x or 2000 for Windows: boawbcd.zip
• R: boawbcd.gz or boawbcd.zip
