Career services example:
Consider the following features/levels for Career Services:
Co. Size (up to 50, 51 to 250, 251 to 1500, over 1500)
The number of employees in the firm that Career Services would
stress or devote their efforts toward.
Industry (hi-tech, start-up, finance)
The type of industry or firm that Career Services would stress
or devote their efforts toward.
Location (Oregon/Washington, California, other U.S.)
The location of firms that Career Services would stress or devote their
efforts toward.
Network (yes, no)
Indicates the existence in Career Services of a computer-based
network of recent graduates with sorting capabilities on Major and
City.
Workshops (job search only, job search + vita, job search + vita
+ interviewing, job search + vita + interviewing + negotiation)
Indicates the type of workshops offered by Career Services.
Use "careercards.xls" from the data page to form cards or slips of paper with
combinations of Co. Size, Industry, Location, Network, and Workshops.
Rank the cards from 1 to 18, where 1 is the combination of
features that you most prefer and 18 is the rank of the least
preferred. (Use all numbers between 1 and 18 and don't allow ties.)
Download the "careerraw.xls" Excel spreadsheet on the data page and replace the
instructor's rankings in the final column with your rankings (and
replace "Iain" with your three digit class ID number).
Send an e-mail to ipardoe at
lcbmail.uoregon.edu that contains this revised Excel spreadsheet
as an attachment, together with the following details:
your age
number of years working full-time prior to entering UO program
anticipated starting salary for first job after completing
degree
whether domestic or international student
